Imagine - to assure their relevance on anything current, they refuse to give their father his rightful peace and quiet by burying him after all these years! The late tyrant is now relegated to being a pawn, a wager if you must, by his own brood who can't seem to just end the discussion of where he is to be laid to rest, and start a new chapter on their lives - a chapter which may and could negate the late strongman's infamy.
But you see, they would not dare do it - as they need to stay relevant, for it is after all their nature. To bury their father is to bury the past, and to bury the past could well mean their political demise ( the political arena to which they want to play is on a much higher level - the local arena just would not fit! ). So in the final analysis, it is not about where to bury their father, or how to bury their father - it is about when they should bury their father, or worse yet, it is as to why they should bury their father!
The Marcos brood just do not get it - they still suffer from having this sense of entitlement! If there is one word that could best describe them, it is most definitely arrogance. For if we are to check, the antonym of arrogance is humility - a trait that none of the Marcos brood seem to possess! They do not have the humility to just let go and move on, and spare the country and its people from the ruckus and further divisiveness, caused by their whims. They could not just quietly go on with their lives, and honor their father and his name by giving that which is due him for the longest time - his final resting place, sans debate and deliberation.
But as I said earlier, kudos to them three! For they know how to play the game indeed! They need to stay relevant - nay! they want to stay relevant, as they can not afford not to be on the limelight! And like brats prancing around, they want others to play their games! They could not care less if the country goes divided even more, and in doing so, throws around the burden of where to bury their father on the shoulders of those who are not related to them! I guess that is how they want to honor their father!
I am wondering endlessly - how many more Father's Day would there be before Marcos is laid to rest? I pray that his children come to his rescue. Their humility can finally put this issue on its final peaceful rest.
